PRINT AT HOME POCKET RCV GUIDE FOR FAIRVOTE WA

This brochure was a direct response to a need expressed by a volunteer at FairVote Washington. During a meeting the volunteer requested something business card sized that they could carry in their pocket and give to people they ended up talking about FairVote or Ranked-Choice Voting with. All of the current information cards were 6" x 9" or bigger -- not something someone could keep in their wallet or pocket on a daily basis. The goal for me was to both include a QR code to the website -- where FairVote Washington really wants people to go -- and to fit enough information on the physical item to pique interest.

What I came up with was a small, single fold flyer -- the size of a business card when folded -- that had the main points of the larger information card as well as a QR code linked to the FVWA website, so people could explore further if they were interested. I built a commercial print-ready file for the organization as well as two print-at-home versions -- color and BW -- that could be printed on a home printer. Once printed, the print-at-home versions can be cut and folded to create the brochure.

While they're not as polished as the commercially printed counterparts, the print-at-home design provides an avenue for the brochures to be immediately accessible to anyone with a printer - a benefit to an organization with volunteers spread across the state, including in more rural areas.

In an increasingly digital world, it can be easy to overlook the power that physical media still has. Giving someone a physical object requires them to interact with the information at least one more time when they take it out of their pocket -- which will quite possibly happen at a time that they have more time and space to

explore new things.
